ARTIST STATEMENT

Matt is a practicing artist in Austin Texas. He is interested in formal understandings of light and color and how to use them to perceive his ever-changing environment. He enjoys doing this through the lens of painting as well as photography in an attempt to expand what is possible within each medium. He enjoys sharing his experiences and regularly teaches art classes to kids and adults. Art has increasingly become his way of connecting with others and he enjoys working on a variety of projects in addition to his own practice. His core belief is that art is a practice of connection that can be vital to our sense of wellbeing in the world.
